The Kids First Fund has 10-year history of helping physically and sexually abused children in Latvia. Kids First co-funded the first ever family shelter specifically built to serve children and mothers. Funding is all often limited to the barest minimum of time to permit complete healing and recovery. The Kids First Fund recently started work in Moldova, which is recognized as Europe's poorest country. Rural areas are stressed by extreme poverty and a lack of social services. Becoming Great Parents equips teachers to be crucial resources in rural villages by working with parents and children. These first-responders are trained to help parents choose effective parenting skills and to detect abuse at its earliest stage.
